Preheat Air Fryer to 300º F for 3-5 minutes. Rub with oil or spritz basket if required before preheating.
Open can of Pillsbury (or similar) ready-to-bake refrigerator biscuits.
Place in basket or on tray of air fryer, in a single layer, leaving space between each biscuit. I baked 5 biscuits in each batch.
Close the air fryer and let bake for 5 minutes.
Check the biscuits after 5 minutes - they should be tall, flaky, and golden (not dark) brown.
Continue to bake for another minute or two as required.
Salted Maple Butter (optional)
Add softened butter to a small bowl.
Pour in 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and whisk together until smooth and fluffy.
Stir in a sprinkle or two of flaky salt.
Taste and adjust maple syrup and salt as needed.
Slather on warm biscuits with a sprinkle of fresh thyme leaves.
Notes
Baking Time: The biscuits should be tall, flaky and light golden. *Each air fryer will produce slightly different results. Test Bake: I typically bake one biscuit in the air fryer as a test to see if the temperature or cooking time needs to be adjusted.Spraying the Air Fryer: I did not have to spray my air fryer with oil; but if you do, add a light coat or spray before you preheat the air fryer.Flipping the Biscuits: The Pillsbury biscuits I used did not need to be flipped (they were evenly golden). The larger Grand biscuits may need to be flipped after the initial 5 minute bake depending on your air fryer.Pillsbury Grands: My recipe is based on Pillsbury biscuits with 10 biscuits in a can. The Grands biscuits are larger and will require more time baking in the air fryer. Increase the baking time by ~3 minutes in your test batch.Use Tongs: The air fryer basket is HOT when you're pulling the biscuits out, please use tongs or let them cool before removing. Serve Immediately: Refrigerator biscuits are best served fresh. Although you can save leftovers for a day or two, the quality, texture, and flavor is best when served warm from the air fryer. Are Pillsbury biscuits vegan?: Check the label for dairy or animal ingredients. Sometimes a label will say 'may contain' which means the product is made in a facility that uses milk, eggs, wheat or whatever (it's a disclaimer for allergies), but it's not an ingredient in the product. You can also google the product, eg. 'Are Pillsbury biscuits vegan?' to double check.Storage/Freezing: Freeze unbaked biscuit dough in a single layer on a baking sheet; once frozen, place in a freezer bag for up to several months. When you are ready to enjoy a freshly baked biscuit or two, remove from freezer and place in the preheated air fryer. Baking time will increase by 1-2 minutes.
