White Balsamic Dressing Ingredients
It's ridiculously easy to whip up this summery dressing with only a handful of ingredients. Here’s what you need:
- White Balsamic Vinegar: Mild, tangy and fruity, white balsamic vinegar makes a delicious, light salad dressing especially for summer salads.
- White Vinegar and Lemon Juice: White vinegar adds just the right amount of zing while lemon juice adds a soft acidity and citrus notes.
- Mayonnaise: Adds creamy, richness, and body to this tangy white balsamic dressing. I love homemade vegan mayo or Vegenaise if store bought. Can sub mayo with some good quality olive oil to make a more traditional white balsamic vinaigrette if you prefer.
- Dijon Mustard: French dijon mustard adds a bold, peppery kick and helps thickens the creamy dressing base.
- Garlic: Use garlic powder or 1 small clove of fresh garlic.
- Maple Syrup: The sweetness from maple syrup mellows the acidity of vinegar. Could sub with agave, white sugar, coconut sugar or runny vegan honey.
- Salt & Pepper: Makes the dressing pop and enhances the depth of flavor.
- Optional Add Ins: For some added heat, add a pinch of two of red pepper flakes. For extra herbaceousness add a few leaves of fresh thyme or oregano. Thinly sliced shallots add extra texture and flavor.
MILLION DOLLAR TIP: Since this balsamic dressing has a delicate flavor profile, it's easy to overpower with too much fresh garlic or other strong flavored add-ins. I recommend a using a light hand with those seasonings.
Let's Make a Creamy White Balsamic Dressing
This quick, all purpose, salad dressing is so easy to make yet it delivers a big punch of flavor and pucker power to your salads. I'm obsessed! Only two steps:
- Place all ingredients into a jar then whisk until smooth. Or put a lid on the jar and shake until mixed.
- Taste and adjust the flavors to suit your individual preference.
- Get drizzling on your leafy greens and rainbow salad to elevate the flavor.
- Store in the fridge for up to a week. (FYI: If using fresh garlic, the garlic flavor gets stronger over the course of the week.)
Tips & FAQ
Use this dressing recipe as a template - start with the original recipe then play around with the ingredients until you find the perfect salty, sweet, creamy, tangy balance to suit your taste. Have FUN with it!
- Too tangy?: If the dressing is too acidic, add another teaspoon or two of sweetener or mayonnaise to balance out the flavors.
- Is your dressing missing something?: If the salad dressing tastes flat or like it's missing something, the answer is usually salt which makes flavors pop. Add another pinch or two to enhance the dressing flavor.
- Make ahead and meal prep friendly: Whip up a batch (or double batch) of this white balsamic dressing to enjoy all week on salads, grain bowls or drizzle it over grilled veggies.
How to Use
Once you have a bottle of white balsamic dressing in the fridge, you'll find a million uses for it.
